Christmas 2011

Christmas Greetings from the DeBoer Household to You:

Being raised in Christian homes, both Bev and I knew the real reason for the Christmas season from early childhood. It was easy to visualize the Baby Jesus in a manger with Mary and Joseph – the Star – the angels’ revelation to the shepherds – and the Advent of our Savior, the Son of God, coming to earth as man. The message He left changed our lives and that of our extended family for eternity. For that we are extremely grateful.

We thank God every day for the privilege of serving with Nursing Home Ministries, Inc. It’s been over 36 years and exciting all the way. We still are ministering in 11 states, with nearly 200 chaplains serving some 300 facilities. We continue to minister to some 6000 residents, either in scheduled chapel services or personal visits. God has consistently honored this proclamation of His love and His Word with some 200 life-changing decisions annually – right on the edge of eternity.

Our travels this year have been limited to the states of Oregon and Washington. Recurring health problems (age, maybe) early in the year were handled by some very competent doctors, and both Bev and I have had a great year, doing a lot of things we failed to do last year.

We are looking forward to this coming year with great expectation. We are making serious efforts to better communicate with each of you with newer technology. Give our website a view at: www.nursinghomeministries.com. We hope to keep this site up to date with current information.

May God richly bless each of you this Christmas season and all through the coming year.

Dear Friends of Nursing Home Ministries, Inc.:

We want to thank you personally for your partnership in this great ministry. We appreciate your prayers and financial support for your “personal” chaplain or chaplains. Without you, many of our chaplains would be unable to continue ministering.

This ministry, now 35 years old, is more than just a chaplain or two as it was when incorporated. We currently have 186 chaplains ministering in over 300 care centers in 11 U.S. states. These chaplains minister to 6,000 residents each week, as they share God’s love and His Word. This doesn’t include the staff and families of residents they encounter along the way.

Nursing Home Ministries still has only one full-time employee, and she served first as secretary to our founders and presently as office manager. She has been doing this for 32 years and now has a part-time employee helping her keep track of all 186 of us.

We do ask for your prayers for this great ministry as God keeps expanding it across this country. Thank you for being an active partner in Nursing Home Ministries as we continue to serve on “The Very Edge of Eternity.”
